Navot & Betty’s Favorite Things – Favorite Home Technology
When it comes to home technology, a system should be designed around the homeowner’s lifestyle. The system should compliment their daily routine and enhance their everyday life. With so much technology on the market, what should be a “must have” for a luxury smart home? Who better to ask than owners of Spire Integrated Systems, Navot Shoresh and spouse, Betty Chu, MD, MBA . In this article, they discuss their favorite home technology.
Betty’s Favorite Home Technology:
1. Lutron Motorized Window Treatments
Why is this one of your favorite home technology?
“The Lutron system is simple and efficient. We live in a downtown area so having privacy is important. Pushing one button gives me privacy and another one gives me sunlight.”
How does it help with your daily routine?
“The intuitive Savant Pro App make morning and evening routines easier by setting schedules for the motorized window treatments. The blackout shades in our bedroom are on a schedule during the week. They go down every night at 9:30pm. In the morning, they go up at the time we need to get ready for work. They are on a manual setting on the weekends, so that we can sleep in.”
Was it easy to learn how to operate?
“Very easy. And easy to program the scenes using the Savant Pro App.”
How does it work with other features in your home?
“Seamlessly, it integrates to our Savant Scenes.”
Who would you recommend this product to?
“Anyone who appreciates the convenience and elegance of a technology like this.”
Savant Scenes allow any number of tasks to be performed at once. Some common scenes in Betty’s home is “Away” and “Good Night Mode” that adjust the shades, lights, speakers and the even the climate with an exact degree of detail.
2. Theater Room
Why is this one of your favorite home technology?
“It helps me unwind from the stress of the day. I love movies and TV series.”
How is this different than just having a TV?
“The experience is immersive and engaging. The room is quiet and the large movie format screen (wide screen) and comfortable seats make it a true movie experience. We use the Qello app to stream concerts and other musical performances, especially now that you can’t go to the concerts.”
How does it work with other features in your home?
“Very easily, we have a scene on the Savant remote called movie night, it starts the projector and sound system and sets the lighting to the right settings.”
Who would you recommend this product to?
“Anyone who loves movies wants to find a great place to relax and reduce stress. We use the movie room area for yoga and meditation.”
Navot’s Favorite Home Technology:
1. Ketra Lighting
How does it help with your daily routine?
“We use the lighting and shades everyday. The Ketra lighting is so simple to use. You pick the “Natural Light” setting and the system just sets it self to the perfect light for that time of the day and them automatically adjust the light every hour. It reduces the need to constantly adjust the lights and it really helps with sleep cycle.”
Ketra technology offers the widest range of pristine whites and vibrant colors available anywhere from 1,400K to 10,000K. The Natural Light setting can shift in color temperature and intensity across a dynamic spectrum of correlated color temperatures throughout the day mimicking the sun.
Was it easy to learn how to operate?
“It was easy to learn but it took sometime to adjust. Having a lighting system that adjusts itself throughout the day is different but so much easier and pleasant.
How does it work with other features in your home?
“It integrates very nicely with the Lutron shades and the automation system in the house. We have a dinner scene that adjust the whole main floor to be warm light, the dining room table is more brightly lit and our art work is lit bright making it stand out, the shade lower to gives us more privacy and the main floor Meridian speakers play soft music. We can even use voice to initiate this scene.”
Who would you recommend this product to?
“I sell this stuff so I am would say everyone. But also anyone who wants the benefit of Natural Light in their home.”
2. Meridian 5200.2 Free Standing Speakers
How does it help with your daily routine?
“It is my relaxing, inspiring time. We placed the Meridian speakers in our living area, they fill the whole first floor with amazing sound. If I am alone at home I crank them up and play rock ‘n’ roll or some of my favorite childhood British bands.”
Was it easy to learn how to operate?
“Yes. It integrates to our Savant music or Sonos system and very simple to control and listen to. We have the speakers on for hours every day.”
How does it work with other features in your home?
“It integrates to Savant and the scenes like dinner and party. It also serves as the sound system for our TV in the living room.”
Who would you recommend this product to?
“Anyone who loves quality listening experience and does not want to be an Audiophile and mess with amps and big bulky wires.”
